NEW: The March Invite Tournament date has been changed from 9 March 2013 to 16 March 2013..

It's like deja vu all over again, and again, and again!  Congratulations to Henry "w/a 'K'" Kakatin, winner of the 2012 Annual Invite Tournament.  Not only is Henry the RPL's Grand Champion for 2012, but he also has 4 invite tournament wins under his belt, with the most recent being the December 2012 Invite.  So, if there were ever any doubt as to whether or not a blind chipmunk could find a nut every now and then, just ask Henry.  Henry's motto: "go early, or luck up and go deep".

Coming in second was flight school student and relative newcomer to the RPL, Tai Zen. Tai, who's game play is erratic as his flying, is no stranger to the final table, but this is his first top three finish in an invite tournament.

And finishing in third place, and in the top three in an invite tournament for a second month in a row, was Bart Markel.  Bart also finished third in the January 2012 Invite Tournament.

Congratulations to Anita Casteel, winner of the January 2013 Invite Tournament.  Anita also finished 3rd in the July 2012 Invite tournament.  Anita takes home the $200 1st place cash prize.

Coming in second was the November Invite Tournament winner, Natalie Eades.  Natalie, who is the better half of Team Eades, is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in the RPL.  Natalie takes home the $100 cash prize.

And finishing in third place, and in the money for the first time this year, was Bart Markel.  Bart takes home the $50 cash prize.

It's like deja vu all over again.  Congratulations to Henry "w/a 'K'" Kakatin, winner of the December 2012 Invite Tournament.  This is Henry's uber unprecedented 4th Invite Tournament win. Henry is living proof that even a blind chipmunk finds a nut every now and then!  Henry takes home the $200 1st place cash prize.

Coming in second was the October Invite Tournament winner, Gerry Sapienza.  This was also Gerry's last game with the RPL, at least for a while as he is set to leave Ft. Rucker this week.  Congratulations to Gerry, and the RPL wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavors.  Gerry takes home the $100 cash prize.

And finishing in third place, and in the money for the third time this year, was Chad Eades!  Chad also came in second in the July Invite Tournament, and he won the June Invite Tournament.  Chad takes home the $50 cash prize.

NOVEMBER INVITE RESULTS

Congratulations to Natalie Eades, winner of the November 2012 Invite Tournament.  This is Natalie's first Invite Tournament win and her second for the night, winning the RPL Speed Round as well.  Natalie, only the 4th woman to win an Invite, also makes RPL history as she bookends the first Husband/Wife couple to win an invite tournament.  Her other half, Chad, won the June 2012 Invite.  She took home the $200 1st place cash prize for her efforts.

It's like deja vu all over again!  Coming in second for the FOURTH time was Mike "Come to your 'always a bride's maid, never a bride' Daddy" Monaghan.  Mike also finished second in the November 2010, October 2012, and June 2012 Invite Tournaments.  Mike takes home the $100 cash prize.

Finishing third, was Tim Healy.  Although Tim has more overall wins than anyone in the RPL with 45, this is only his second money finish in an Invite Tournament.  Tim has been with the RPL since its inception and even though this is only is second cash finish, he's no stranger to the money.  Tim more recently won RuckerHoldem's charity benefit tournament back in June of 2011, taking home a $1,000 cash prize.  For his efforts in this tournament, Tim took home the $50 cash prize!

Congratulations to Gerry Sapienza, winner of the October 2012 Invite Tournament.  This is Gerry's first Invite Tournament win and his fifth overall win since he began playing with the RPL tying him at 54th place on the first place winner's list.  Gerry also came in second in the 2009 November Invite Tournament.  He took home the $200 1st place cash prize for his efforts.

Coming in second was Mike "Come to your 'always a bride's maid, never a bride' Daddy" Monaghan.  Mike also finished second in the November 2010 and June 2012 Invite Tournaments.  Mike takes home the $100 cash prize.

Finishing third, and in the money for a record setting 8th time, was Tammy Morgan.  Tammy is most notably known for her passive/aggressive style of play, starring her opponents down into submission, and for finishing first in the January 2012 Invite Tournament.  Tammy has also set the record for the most prize money won by an RPL player and is arguably considered the best player in the league.  If you don't believe me, just ask her!  She took home the $50 cash prize!

Starting in October, players will be able to redeem a 1st Place Chip during any level with the following value restrictions: levels 1 thru 4 redemption value = 2,500; levels 5 thru 8 redemption value = 5,000; levels 9+ redemption value = 25,000.

Beginning with the October Invite, late players will not be allowed into the tournament.  Previously, players who had earned a spot into the tournament could come in the game anytime before the end of the first round; however, since the invite games are now not scheduled to start until 8:30 p.m., after the first game on Saturday night, players have ample opportunity to show up and start the game on time.  Additionally, players not signed into the tournament before 5 minutes prior to game time may lose their assigned seat.  The Tournament Director will now adjust table and seating assignments based on the number of players signed into the game at the 5 minute mark.

We're going to have a slight change to the Saturday first game prior to the invite tournament. In addition to running a double speed timer, we're not going to allow any place chips to be used during this game. This should help to keep us on schedule for starting the invite tournament at 8:30 p.m.

Congratulations once again to Chris Morehouse, winner of the September 2012 Invite Tournament.  This is Chris' 2nd Invite Tournament win this year.  Chris also took home the $200 1st place cash prize for the March 2012 Invite.  Chris also finished 3rd in the February 2012 Invite.

Coming in second, and in the money again, was Charlie Edlin.  Charlie finished 3rd in the June 2012 Invite. Now if we could just get Charlie to complete the deal and come in first.  Charlie takes home the $100 cash prize.

Finishing in the money for the first time in his RPL career was relative newcomer, Dan Beltran.  Dan had only been with the RPL for about a month be he was still able to take home the $50 cash prize!

Congratulations to RPL players Tim Healy and Ruth Leland  who participated in and completed the Ft. Rucker Audie Murphy Triathlon at the West Beach, Lake Tholocco.  This was Tim's second running of the Audie Murphy Triathlon and he bested his last year's time by more than 10 minutes.  This was Ruth's first attempt and she finished 3rd in her age group with a course time of 1h46m.  Not bad considering she even lost 5 minutes on the bike portion when her chain came off.  Tim, of course, is preparing for the Iron Man later this fall.  Congratulations to both for completing this monumental feat of mental and physical endurance.

See below for our next theme night.

Player Bling has arrived at the RPL.  Players will now carry an icon next to their name on the standings sheets to identify where they rank regarding their total career points with the Rucker Poker League.  Each icon represents the minimum point value the player has.  For example, a player who has earned at least 100,000 career points, but less than 250,000 career points will have a Red Heart beside their name to indicate their total career points value earned.  Once a player reaches a new icon threshold, their Bling status will automatically increase to the next higher icon level.

----------------------

The Rucker Poker League is the premiere poker league in Southern Alabama and is an official sponsor of RuckerHoldem.com.  Founded by Oscar Amaya, the Rucker Poker League is played exclusively at Oscar's Bar & Grill in Enterprise, AL.

The RPL is a free, points based league that offers all the realism of high-stakes, No-Limit Texas Hold'em Poker.  Unlike other leagues in the area, the RPL encourages good play through a restructured blinds system that penalizes poor play.  The points matrix is also designed to reward better players by making the points worth something.  With other leagues, the points mean very little, but with the RPL, your finishing order and points do mean something.  The more points you earn, the more chips you get for the invite tournaments.  Better play is rewarded!  Points are awarded only for the top 15 finishers, with those making the final table receiving a significant amount more.  Players don't have to play a lot, they just have to play well.

The RPL offers more local, cash invite tournaments than any other league in the area.  Cash invite tournaments are held every two months with only the top players being invited back to play.  Invite tournaments have small fields of no more than 32 players increasing the odds that the best players make it into the money.  Ensuring that only qualified players make the money, the RPL offers NO play-in tournaments.  You either make the cut, or you don't play in the invites.

Tournament schedule at Oscar's:

Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., one game, double stack (10,000 chips) with an extended timer.

Friday & Saturday: Two games beginning at 7:00 p.m. with the second game starting 5 minutes after the end of the first game, usually between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m.

Join us at the newly remolded poker room at Oscar's in Enterprise.
